Special Events Overview

Special Events to Capture the Imagination and Inspire Lasting Memories

For memorable family entertainment, look no further than the Recreation Authority’s catalog of special events. Endorsed by parents and requested by children our events are exceptionally popular. Events sell out quickly and those who register early never miss out on the fun.

MOM/SON OUTING (fall)
Our Mom/Son outing, like our Daddy/Daughter Dance, is always a huge hit with our families in the community. Designed for boys, ages 3-12 years old, and their Mom/Aunt/Grandma/etc., our special outing provides a day full of entertainment and memories.

DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE (winter)
Our annual Daddy/Daughter Dance will be held at Vintage House, on Utica Road on the last Friday in January. Ticket prices will include a buffet dinner, dancing, a group photo and a gift for each girl at the end of the evening. You must pre-register at the Recreation Center for this event, as there are only 280 tickets available. Tickets go on sale Monday, August 5th! Visit the Special Events Listing for more details.

HOLIDAY LIGHTS CONTEST
Think you have the best Holiday decorations in the area? Then nominate your house for the chance to win a prize and the prestigious title of “Best Decorated House in Roseville & Eastpointe.” All nominations must be received by Friday, December 9th. Nominate your house; or a friend’s, by calling (586)445-5480!

MOM-2-MOM RESALE (fall)
Our Mom-2-Mom Resale offers local area Moms the opportunity to sell their child’s slightly used toys, clothing, furniture and sporting goods. The Recreation Authority hosts over 65 tables of resale vendors at the fall sale. Register for a space or simply attend and shop for bargains! Please call our office for space availability. FAMILY FUN TRIPS

“SPOOKTACULAR” HALLOWEEN TRICK-OR-TREAT TRAIL (fall)
In celebration of Halloween, we will be hosting a Trick or Treat Trail at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Roseville for children ages 18 months – 12 years old. This event will feature music and many service clubs, businesses, city departments and individuals handing out candy in a safe and secure setting. Parents must purchase their child a wristband for entrance into the event. Wristbands must be purchased in advance at the Recreation Center and only 500 wristbands will be sold! “RUMBLIN’ TUMBLIN’” PUMPKIN ROLLDOWN
Our “RUMBLIN’ TUMBLIN’” PUMPKIN ROLLDOWN event offers children a fun and engaging way to dispose of their carved Halloween pumpkins! Held at Huron Park in Roseville, this event is FREE for all to attend and provides a social, fun and entertaining experience every year! Visit the Special Events Listing for more details.

BIG BIRD RUN
Our Annual Big Bird Run, held on the 2nd Sunday of November, consists of a 10K Run, 4K Run, and 1 Mile Fun Run. This event brings as many as 900 runners from across Windsor and Michigan to compete each year. Sign the family up for some fitness fun! Each race recognizes winners in separate age division and dozens of raffle prizes are awarded every minute! Visit the Special Events Listing for more details.

COLOR THE PARK
Help brighten Huron Park in Roseville, prior to the baseball / softball season. This is a great FREE community event that the whole family can enjoy! Children and adults can make new friends and showcase their artistic talents by creating sidewalk chalk art! The Recreation Authority will provide the chalk and a refreshing treat to all participants. All you need to bring is your creativity.

WALK MICHIGAN (summer)
Held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m., Walk Michigan is a program designed to encourage physical fitness within the local community. Every time you participate in one of these scheduled walks, you will be entered into a prize draw!

BARGAIN HUNTERS PARADISE/GARAGE SALE
If you love garage sales, tag sales, or flea markets, then you won’t want to miss this event. On Saturday, August 20th the parking lot of the Recreation Center will turn into a shopper’s paradise of bargains and sales. There will be a huge selection of household items, tools, sports equipment, toys, games, books, clothes and deals galore! The event will be held rain or shine.
